The seventeen working days of December are not just a busy time of year for Santa and his Elves (they may have 23 if we include weekends) but also for the team at Arras People. It is the time of year when we generally see a spike in terms of hiring activity and also when we are busy preparing the ground for the annual Project Management Benchmark Survey & Report! The good news on the hiring front is that the last four weeks has seen a significant increase in terms of new roles that we are working on compared to earlier parts of the year. We have some great roles and also some interesting new clients who are looking to bolster their teams. If you haven’t had a look recently, why not take a peek at the job board? In terms of the Project Management Benchmark Survey & Report we are back for our 5th year! For the uninitiated, the survey takes a snapshot of the UK Project Management marketplace, which is followed up by a report published in late January. Previous issues can be found at here. The report is not only great fun and interesting work, but the feedback we receive suggests that there is no other such piece of work available for free consumption anywhere else on the web. Last year we had record requests with the report being downloaded by around 3,000 people as well as 1,000 copies being distributed as a printed document (collector’s item?). Extracts from the report also appeared in many other publications and presentations worldwide. This year we are again going to be asking questions about what we believe are current issues and hot topics within the PPM field along with the usual data points on salaries, remuneration and day rates so that we can add to the databank and provide comparisons to last year and predictions for 2010. So keep an eye out, the survey will be launched on the 14th December and we are hoping for a record number of respondents this year. I offer a call to action (or a plea!) to all “if we had as many people complete the survey as download the report we would have an even better benchmark of our profession!” So please, take the time and help us all get a better view of how we are faring during these interesting times.
